Looking for fine art oil painting with real brushwork? A Friend in Need is reproduced by hand in oils on artist-grade canvas after Cassius Marcellus Coolidge. The result is a piece of timeless oil painting wall decor that anchors an entryway and rewards a closer look.
1903
Oil on canvas
Perhaps the most famous of Coolidge’s paintings, it depicts seven dogs sitting around a table playing poker in the wee morning hours. It derives its name from the bulldog handing an ace under the table to his friend. With that additional ace, the dog with his back to the viewer will have four aces.
Our artists reproduce this fine art composition in oil on canvas by hand, preserving the tonal range that makes fine art oil painting so sought after for an entryway.
This is a genuine hand painted oil painting, not a canvas print. Our painters match the palette of A Friend in Need by eye and build up the fine art forms in thin layers, which is what gives the finished fine art oil painting its luminosity.
Hang this fine art oil painting above a sofa, console, or bed to give an entryway an instant focal point. Its timeless palette works with both minimalist and period interiors, and the piece also makes a considered gift for housewarmings, weddings, and art lovers.
In short: A Friend in Need - Cassius Marcellus Coolidge - Oil Painting for Entryway combines a timeless composition, a 100% hand painted oil painting process, and the flexibility of made-to-order canvas sizes — a dependable choice for fine art oil painting and entryway wall decor.
