From the first sketch to the final varnish, Adam and Eve (unfinished) is made by hand. Based on Gustav Klimt's original. This art nouveau oil painting wall decor is crafted on artist-grade canvas for anyone who wants fine art oil painting with the character of an original.
1917-1918
Oil on canvas
175 x 60 cm
Osterreichische Galerie Belvedere, Austria.
Not even Klimt can treat the subject of "Adam and Eve" without the presence of the male. Yet he succeeds in making him a kind of decorative accessory. Using a technique observed in ancient vase painting, he paints him darker than the triumphant figure of Eve, the alluring carnal Viennese with her gently rounded flesh, the obvious star of the picture.
The fine art subject is rebuilt stroke by stroke in oil, giving the finished canvas the depth expected of art nouveau oil painting wall decor.
Materials matter for art nouveau wall decor. That is why this piece is built on artist-grade canvas with lightfast oil colors, applied by hand rather than output from a printer, and sealed for long-term display.
Style it over a fireplace, behind a reading chair, or along a staircase. Wherever it goes, this art nouveau oil painting wall decor adds the layered color that only a hand painted canvas provides.
