After the Deluge - George Frederic Watts - Canvas Oil Painting brings gallery-caliber art into everyday spaces. This fine art oil painting is a 100% hand painted oil painting on canvas, created for buyers who want genuine romantic canvas wall art instead of a mass-produced poster or paper print.
1885-1886
Oil on canvas
104 x 178 cm
Watts Gallery - Compton (Surrey), United Kingdom.
A visitor looking at After the Deluge remarked that into such as scheme of colour he felt it would not have been possible to introduce the figure of the Creator; “Ah no”, Mr Watts replied. “But that is exactly what I could wish to make those who look at the picture conceive for themselves. The hand of the Creator moving by light and by heat to re-create. I have not tried to paint a portrait of the sun – such a thing is unpaintable – but I wanted to impress you with the idea of its enormous power.”
The fine art subject is rebuilt stroke by stroke in oil, giving the finished canvas the depth expected of romantic oil painting wall decor.
Trained artists work in stages — underpainting, mid-tones, highlights, and detail — using traditional oils on canvas. Because nothing is printed, every hand painted oil painting has its own subtle texture and depth.
For bedroom wall art that does not feel generic, a painted fine art canvas is hard to beat. It is a popular fine art oil painting pick for new homeowners and a durable alternative to seasonal poster art.
In short: After the Deluge - George Frederic Watts - Canvas Oil Painting combines a romantic composition, a 100% hand painted oil painting process, and the flexibility of made-to-order canvas sizes — a dependable choice for fine art oil painting and bedroom wall art.
