An Old World Wanderer - Briton Riviere - Canvas Wall Art suits both traditional and modern interiors. As a fine art oil painting, it works as a standalone focal point or as part of a living room gallery wall, and unlike a print it is genuinely hand painted in oils.

Oil on canvas
108 x 172.7 cm
A mythological scene, set in a seascape. In the foreground is a beach, with hundreds of various types of gull, both on the sand, and perched on a large seaweed-covered rock. By the edge of the shore, on the right, is a young man, dressed only in a short toga-like costume with one shoulder covered; he holds a spear in his right hand. Behind him, just off the coast, is a vessel similar to a Viking longship, with its many oars in the water. In the background on the left are sheer cliffs, with seagulls wheeling around in the sky.
Our artists reproduce this fine art composition in oil on canvas by hand, preserving the tonal range that makes fine art oil painting so sought after for a living room.
From primer to varnish, the work is done manually on artist-grade canvas. The absence of digital printing is deliberate: it keeps the fine art brushwork visible and gives the vintage oil painting wall decor a museum-like finish.
As living room wall decor, this canvas brings color and texture without visual noise. It scales well from a small study to a large living room feature wall, and it is a reliable choice when shopping for fine art oil painting as a gift.
