About the Artwork
circa 1896
Oil on canvas
Private collection.
The cityscape subject is rebuilt stroke by stroke in oil, giving the finished canvas the depth expected of fauvist oil painting wall decor.
How It Is Made
Oil on canvas remains the reference standard for fauvist reproductions. Our artists apply pigment by hand, blending the cityscape tones directly on the surface for depth that a printed cityscape oil painting simply cannot match.
