For collectors searching fine art oil painting, Camp Robbers is a dependable choice. Painted in layered oils on canvas after Philip Goodwin, this vintage work reads equally well as classic canvas wall art and as a thoughtful housewarming gift.
Goodwin historian Larry Len Peterson writes, "Goodwin loved dogs and included them in a number of his finest paintings. His beloved Airedale was featured in works completed for Winchester and in Camp Robbers. The camp setting is one of Goodwin's favorites and was used in one of his most famous paintings, It's a Bear.
"A bear family is creating havoc when they are surprised by an angry Airedale who blocks the camper's chance at a shot at the growling mother bear. Will the mother hold her ground or follow the lead of one of her wise children who is starting to run away? The decision to fight or flight makes for the ultimate predicament painting."
Our artists reproduce this fine art composition in oil on canvas by hand, preserving the tonal range that makes fine art oil painting so sought after for a gallery wall.
From primer to varnish, the work is done manually on artist-grade canvas. The absence of digital printing is deliberate: it keeps the fine art brushwork visible and gives the vintage oil painting wall decor a museum-like finish.
As gallery wall art, this canvas brings color and texture without visual noise. It scales well from a small study to a large gallery wall feature wall, and it is a reliable choice when shopping for fine art oil painting as a gift.
Whether the search term is fine art oil painting, gallery wall art, or vintage oil painting wall decor, this hand painted canvas delivers the same thing: a real painted surface, made to your chosen dimensions.
