Death and Life by Gustav Klimt is one of those images that never dates. Our studio recreates it as a hand painted oil painting — textured, color-rich, and ready to hang as canvas wall art in a hallway, study, or reception area.
1916
Oil on canvas
178 x 198 cm
Private collection, Vienna.
This is one of Klimt's central themes, central also to his time and to his contemporaries, among them Edvard Munch and Egon Schiele. Klimt makes of it a modern dance of death, but, unlike Schiele, he introduces a note of hope and reconciliation: instead of feeling threatened by the figure of death, his human beings seem to disregard it.
Collectors often choose this fine art image when searching for fine art oil painting that feels substantial rather than decorative or disposable.
Oil on canvas remains the reference standard for art nouveau reproductions. Our artists apply pigment by hand, blending the fine art tones directly on the surface for depth that a printed fine art oil painting simply cannot match.
art nouveau canvas wall art is one of the easiest ways to warm a hallway. Pair this piece with natural linen, dark wood, or brushed brass, and let the hand painted surface do the rest.
Whether the search term is fine art oil painting, hallway wall art, or art nouveau oil painting wall decor, this hand painted canvas delivers the same thing: a real painted surface, made to your chosen dimensions.
