The Story Behind the Painting
1899
Oil on canvas
121.92 cm (48 in.) x 182.88 cm (72 in.)
Private collection.
The seascape subject is rebuilt stroke by stroke in oil, giving the finished canvas the depth expected of traditional oil painting wall decor.
How It Is Made
Oil on canvas remains the reference standard for traditional reproductions. Our artists apply pigment by hand, blending the seascape tones directly on the surface for depth that a printed seascape oil painting simply cannot match.
