For collectors searching portrait oil painting, Girl Friends is a dependable choice. Painted in layered oils on canvas after Gustav Klimt, this art nouveau work reads equally well as classic canvas wall art and as a thoughtful housewarming gift.
1916-1917
Oil on canvas
99 x 99 cm
Destroyed by Fire at Immendorf Palace in 1945.
Klimt was so attached to women, and to painting pictures of women, that he did not hesitate to depict women's love; he had already done so in Water Serpents. When painting men he seemed to do so reluctantly, and only when the occasion demanded it.
Our artists reproduce this figurative composition in oil on canvas by hand, preserving the tonal range that makes portrait oil painting so sought after for a home office.
Oil on canvas remains the reference standard for art nouveau reproductions. Our artists apply pigment by hand, blending the figurative tones directly on the surface for depth that a printed portrait oil painting simply cannot match.
art nouveau canvas wall art is one of the easiest ways to warm a home office. Pair this piece with natural linen, dark wood, or brushed brass, and let the hand painted surface do the rest.
