Grey Day on the River (Two Ladies in a Boat) - Frederick Carl Frieseke - Canvas Oil Painting
About This Piece

The Story Behind the Painting
circa 1908
Oil on canvas
66.04 cm (26 in.) x 81.28 cm (32 in.)
Private collection.
The landscape subject is rebuilt stroke by stroke in oil, giving the finished canvas the depth expected of impressionist oil painting wall decor.
How It Is Made
From primer to varnish, the work is done manually on artist-grade canvas. The absence of digital printing is deliberate: it keeps the landscape brushwork visible and gives the impressionist oil painting wall decor a museum-like finish.
