Horse Asleep by Franz Marc

Horse Asleep - Franz Marc - Hand Painted Oil Painting

About This Piece

Choose Horse Asleep as a hand painted oil painting and skip the compromise of printed wall decor. Based on Franz Marc's original. Our artists rebuild the wildlife composition stroke by stroke, producing expressionist canvas wall art with lasting color depth.

The Story Behind the Painting

circa 1913
watercolor and ink on paper
Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, United States.

Our artists reproduce this wildlife composition in oil on canvas by hand, preserving the tonal range that makes wildlife oil painting so sought after for a hallway.

How It Is Made

From primer to varnish, the work is done manually on artist-grade canvas. The absence of digital printing is deliberate: it keeps the wildlife brushwork visible and gives the expressionist oil painting wall decor a museum-like finish.
