From the first sketch to the final varnish, Lilas Mauve dans Un Vase de Terre Jaune Et Vert is made by hand. Based on Pierre Bonnard's original. This post-impressionist oil painting wall decor is crafted on artist-grade canvas for anyone who wants still life oil painting with the character of an original.
1930
Oil on canvas
Painted in 1930, Lilas mauve dans un vase de terre jaune et vert is a vibrant still-life capturing the beauty of flowers. A brightly coloured vase with purple lilacs and rich foliage is depicted in an intimate interior setting. Discussing a bouquet of flowers, Bonnard revealed to a friend in 1943: 'I often see interesting things to paint around me, but for me to have the desire to paint them, they must have a special seduction – beauty – what one could call beauty. I paint them trying to keep control of my original idea, but I am weak, and if I let myself go, like with the bouquet of roses, in a moment, I have lost my first impression, and I no longer know where I am going' (quoted in Bonnard: the Late Paintings (exhibition catalogue), The Phillips Collection, Washington, D.C. & Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas, 1984, p. 138).
As gallery wall art, the piece pairs naturally with other post-impressionist wall art and with warm neutrals, timber, and soft natural light.
Trained artists work in stages — underpainting, mid-tones, highlights, and detail — using traditional oils on canvas. Because nothing is printed, every hand painted oil painting has its own subtle texture and depth.
For gallery wall art that does not feel generic, a painted still life canvas is hard to beat. It is a popular still life oil painting pick for new homeowners and a durable alternative to seasonal poster art.
In short: Lilas Mauve dans Un Vase de Terre Jaune Et Vert - Pierre Bonnard - Still Life Canvas Wall Art combines a post-impressionist composition, a 100% hand painted oil painting process, and the flexibility of made-to-order canvas sizes — a dependable choice for still life oil painting and gallery wall art.
