Mountainous Landscape with a Citadel - Jean-Francois Millet - Canvas Oil Painting suits both traditional and modern interiors. As a landscape oil painting, it works as a standalone focal point or as part of a living room gallery wall, and unlike a print it is genuinely hand painted in oils.
Millet, who trained in France and travelled to England and Holland, studied the work of Poussin and made his reputation with austere classical landscapes in his manner. Some were engraved at an early date, providing virtually the only documentation for his work. The chronology of his paintings is difficult to establish. It depicts a richly varied, extensive landscape, with a solitary traveler on the left providing a romantic note.
Every hand painted oil painting in this landscape series is finished on artist-grade canvas and checked against the original before it leaves the studio.
Materials matter for refined wall decor. That is why this piece is built on artist-grade canvas with lightfast oil colors, applied by hand rather than output from a printer, and sealed for long-term display.
Style it over a fireplace, behind a reading chair, or along a staircase. Wherever it goes, this refined oil painting wall decor adds the layered color that only a hand painted canvas provides.
