Mrs. Cazalet and Children, Edward and Victor - John Singer Sargent - Oil Painting Wall Decor
About This Piece
From the first sketch to the final varnish, Mrs. Cazalet and Children, Edward and Victor is made by hand. Based on John Singer Sargent's original. This realist oil painting wall decor is crafted on artist-grade canvas for anyone who wants portrait oil painting with the character of an original.
About the Artwork
1900-1901
Oil on canvas
254 cm (100 in.) x 165 cm (64.96 in.)
Private collection.
Mrs. Cazalet was the eldest daughter of Sir John Heron-Maxwell, 7th Baronet of Springkell. In 1893 she married William Marshall Cazalet, the eldest son of Edward and Elizabeth Cazalet, prosperous merchants. Edward Cazalet died in action in World War I. Victor Alexander became a member of parliament and died in action in World War II.
Every hand painted oil painting in this figurative series is finished on artist-grade canvas and checked against the original before it leaves the studio.
Materials & Craftsmanship
From primer to varnish, the work is done manually on artist-grade canvas. The absence of digital printing is deliberate: it keeps the figurative brushwork visible and gives the realist oil painting wall decor a museum-like finish.
