For collectors searching still life oil painting, Orchard with Roses (Obstgarten mit Rosen) is a dependable choice. Painted in layered oils on canvas after Gustav Klimt, this art nouveau work reads equally well as classic canvas wall art and as a thoughtful housewarming gift.
1911-12
Oil on canvas
110 x 110 cm
Private collection.
Klimt uses a very rhythmic and thin ductus in this painting. The so achieved structural homogeneity of the canvas is a stylistic turning point in Klimt’s oeuvre.
The Viennese painter Gustav Klimt is world famous for his Art Nouveau paintings with a lot of gold. "Orchard with roses" behaves differently: the lush, blazing colors in nature are enough for the artist to bring a work of perfect beauty to the screen. The viewer literally bathes in a sea of colors. On the left side of the picture is a narrow path to see. This leads along a flower meadow with powerful red flowers, which are distributed in the background as small Einsprengsel. Here is the summer full of action. Flowering fruit trees with green apples in the complementary color look like big brothers of the flowers protecting their branches over them. This meadow area is an idyll, evoking a harmony of paradisiacal beauty in the company of delicate pink hedge roses. No figure disturbs the picture: thus, the viewer has this scenery always alone!
Every hand painted oil painting in this still life series is finished on artist-grade canvas and checked against the original before it leaves the studio.
This is a genuine hand painted oil painting, not a canvas print. Our painters match the palette of Orchard with Roses (Obstgarten mit Rosen) by eye and build up the still life forms in thin layers, which is what gives the finished still life oil painting its luminosity.
