Nothing softens a hallway like a painted surface. Our Lord Jesus Christ by James Tissot arrives as a hand painted oil painting on canvas, offering the fine art detail, soft gradients, and tactile finish that fine art oil painting shoppers look for.
Notre-Seigneur Jésus-Christ
1886-1894
Opaque watercolor over graphite on gray wove paper
Brooklyn Museum, United States.
Jesus appears with his hands folded over his heart, his gaze direct, his expression composed. As Moses commanded in the Old Testament books of Numbers and Deuteronomy, Jesus wears a prayer shawl as a sign of his adherence to the rituals of Judaism.
Tissot derived this image from a larger watercolor in the series in which Jesus gives his last discourse to his disciples after the departure of Judas. He urges them to love one another as he has loved them.
Every hand painted oil painting in this fine art series is finished on artist-grade canvas and checked against the original before it leaves the studio.
Trained artists work in stages — underpainting, mid-tones, highlights, and detail — using traditional oils on canvas. Because nothing is printed, every hand painted oil painting has its own subtle texture and depth.
For hallway wall art that does not feel generic, a painted fine art canvas is hard to beat. It is a popular fine art oil painting pick for new homeowners and a durable alternative to seasonal poster art.
Order Our Lord Jesus Christ as a hand painted oil painting on canvas and add lasting romantic character to your hallway. Custom sizes, a digital proof before dispatch, and secure worldwide shipping are included.
