From the first sketch to the final varnish, Ovid Among the Scythians is made by hand. Based on Eugene Delacroix's original. This refined oil painting wall decor is crafted on artist-grade canvas for anyone who wants fine art oil painting with the character of an original.
1862
Oil on paper laid down on wood
Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, United States.
One of several late easel pictures inwhich Delacroix returns to themes previously treated in decorative programmes. A larger version was exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1859 (National Gallery, London) and this version was painted later to integrate the figures and landscape more naturally.
Our artists reproduce this fine art composition in oil on canvas by hand, preserving the tonal range that makes fine art oil painting so sought after for an entryway.
Materials matter for refined wall decor. That is why this piece is built on artist-grade canvas with lightfast oil colors, applied by hand rather than output from a printer, and sealed for long-term display.
Style it over a fireplace, behind a reading chair, or along a staircase. Wherever it goes, this refined oil painting wall decor adds the layered color that only a hand painted canvas provides.
