Looking for fine art oil painting with real brushwork? Piti teina (Two Sisters) is reproduced by hand in oils on artist-grade canvas after Paul Gauguin. The result is a piece of post-impressionist oil painting wall decor that anchors a bedroom and rewards a closer look.
1892
Oil on canvas
The State Hermitage Museum, Russia.
Two little Tahitian girls, the sisters, arguably Gauguin's finest images of children, perhaps reflect his recollection of his own younger daughter. The mysterious background of this canvas contrasts with the simple silhouette of the childrens' figures. A noble simplicity and monumentality is combined here with the delicacy and even vulnerability peculiar to childhood. Piti teina's uniqueness is in just this contrast. Looking at this picture makes one recall Gauguin's lines from Noa-Noa about the "women-girls, in whose rhythm of body movements, [and in whose] eyes, penetrating and clear, [and] in the amazing stillness there is something ineffably ancient, lofty and religious".
The fine art subject is rebuilt stroke by stroke in oil, giving the finished canvas the depth expected of post-impressionist oil painting wall decor.
Expect subtle, hand-made variation rather than factory uniformity. Each fine art canvas is painted with oils, allowed to cure properly, and inspected before it is approved for shipment.
Wondering where fine art oil painting looks best? Try a bedroom mantel, a dining room sideboard, or a hallway gallery wall. The fine art subject reads clearly from a distance and rewards close viewing up near.
In short: Piti teina (Two Sisters) - Paul Gauguin - Canvas Oil Painting combines a post-impressionist composition, a 100% hand painted oil painting process, and the flexibility of made-to-order canvas sizes — a dependable choice for fine art oil painting and bedroom wall art.
