Portrait of the Artist's Mother - Franz Marc - Canvas Oil Painting
Product Overview
Nothing softens a bedroom like a painted surface. Portrait of the Artist's Mother by Franz Marc arrives as a hand painted oil painting on canvas, offering the figurative detail, soft gradients, and tactile finish that portrait oil painting shoppers look for.
About the Artwork
1902
Oil on canvas
98.43 cm (38.75 in.) x 69.85 cm (27.5 in.)
Staedtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus, Germany.
The figurative subject is rebuilt stroke by stroke in oil, giving the finished canvas the depth expected of expressionist oil painting wall decor.
How It Is Made
Trained artists work in stages — underpainting, mid-tones, highlights, and detail — using traditional oils on canvas. Because nothing is printed, every hand painted oil painting has its own subtle texture and depth.
