The Story Behind the Painting

Portrait of Thomas Smith the Banksman, half-length, in a green coat has the kind of quiet presence that suits an entryway without dominating it after George Stubbs. Our artists work from the original image in stages, building the figurative forms in oil on canvas. The finished piece sits comfortably alongside portrait oil painting and other timeless wall art.

How It Is Made

This is a genuine hand painted oil painting, not a canvas print. Our painters match the palette of Portrait of Thomas Smith the Banksman, half-length, in a green coat by eye and build up the figurative forms in thin layers, which is what gives the finished portrait oil painting its luminosity.
