Composition & Subject

half-length, in a green coat and yellow embroidered waistcoat, a tricorn under his left arm
ca. 1770
Oil on canvas, in a painted oval
76.8 x 64 cm. (30.2 x 25.2 in.)

The figurative subject is rebuilt stroke by stroke in oil, giving the finished canvas the depth expected of classical oil painting wall decor.

100% Hand Painted on Canvas

From primer to varnish, the work is done manually on artist-grade canvas. The absence of digital printing is deliberate: it keeps the figurative brushwork visible and gives the classical oil painting wall decor a museum-like finish.
