From the first sketch to the final varnish, Portrait of 'Willy', The Writer Henri Gauthier-Villars is made by hand. Based on Giovanni Boldini's original. The Story Behind the Painting
c.1905
Oil on canvas
Private collection.
Every hand painted oil painting in this figurative series is finished on artist-grade canvas and checked against the original before it leaves the studio.
100% Hand Painted on Canvas
From primer to varnish, the work is done manually on artist-grade canvas. The absence of digital printing is deliberate: it keeps the figurative brushwork visible and gives the vintage oil painting wall decor a museum-like finish.
