Upgrade your walls with Seated Shepherdess - Jean-Francois Millet - Hand Painted Oil Painting. Every fine art reproduction is painted entirely by hand, so the surface carries the depth and variation of an original oil painting rather than the flatness of a digital canvas print.
This fresh oil study dates from the late 1840s. It may have been inspired by an incident seen in the Forest of Fontainbleau aound Barbizon, where Millet moved to from Paris in 1849. Formerly in the distinguished collection of Henri Rouart, this work was purchased by Margaret Davies in 1912 and was given away shortly before her death in 1963.
The fine art subject is rebuilt stroke by stroke in oil, giving the finished canvas the depth expected of timeless oil painting wall decor.
This is a genuine hand painted oil painting, not a canvas print. Our painters match the palette of Seated Shepherdess by eye and build up the fine art forms in thin layers, which is what gives the finished fine art oil painting its luminosity.
Hang this fine art oil painting above a sofa, console, or bed to give a hallway an instant focal point. Its timeless palette works with both minimalist and period interiors, and the piece also makes a considered gift for housewarmings, weddings, and art lovers.
