Upgrade your walls with Stoke-by-Nayland - John Constable - Living Room Wall Decor. Every fine art reproduction is painted entirely by hand, so the surface carries the depth and variation of an original oil painting rather than the flatness of a digital canvas print.
ca. 1810–11
Oil on canvas
In 1810, at the request of his aunt, Martha Smith, Constable painted an altarpiece for the church at Nayland, a village in Suffolk to the west of his native East Bergholt. When visiting his aunt, he would have passed by or through Stoke-by-Nayland. He made three drawings of the village and the church of St. Mary’s in a sketchbook dating to 1810–11. This is the earliest of three oil sketches of the subject. (The others are at Tate Britain and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.)
Collectors often choose this fine art image when searching for fine art oil painting that feels substantial rather than decorative or disposable.
Trained artists work in stages — underpainting, mid-tones, highlights, and detail — using traditional oils on canvas. Because nothing is printed, every hand painted oil painting has its own subtle texture and depth.
For living room wall decor that does not feel generic, a painted fine art canvas is hard to beat. It is a popular fine art oil painting pick for new homeowners and a durable alternative to seasonal poster art.
Order Stoke-by-Nayland as a hand painted oil painting on canvas and add lasting romantic character to your living room. Custom sizes, a digital proof before dispatch, and secure worldwide shipping are included.
