From the first sketch to the final varnish, Sun Setting over a Lake is made by hand. Based on Joseph Mallord William Turner's original. This romantic oil painting wall decor is crafted on artist-grade canvas for anyone who wants landscape oil painting with the character of an original.
circa 1840
Oil on canvas
91 x 122.5 cm (35.8 x 48.2 in)
Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, United States.
In Turner's atmospheric seascape painting, the sunset is vividly depicted, lighting up the sky in vibrant reds, yellows and oranges, reflected across the hazy water. At the right, passages of white paint may depict snowy Alpine mountains, perhaps those around Lake Lucerne.
The landscape subject is rebuilt stroke by stroke in oil, giving the finished canvas the depth expected of romantic oil painting wall decor.
Each canvas is painted entirely by hand with professional oil paints on artist-grade cotton canvas. No printing, giclée, or digital imaging is used at any stage, so the surface keeps the slight relief and color variation of real brushwork.
This landscape oil painting wall decor is equally at home in a residence, a boutique hotel, or a professional office. Its romantic character makes it a safe, distinctive gift for anyone furnishing a gallery wall.
In short: Sun Setting over a Lake - Joseph Mallord William Turner - Oil Painting combines a romantic composition, a 100% hand painted oil painting process, and the flexibility of made-to-order canvas sizes — a dependable choice for landscape oil painting and gallery wall art.
