From the first sketch to the final varnish, Sunset on the Plains is made by hand. Based on Frederic Remington's original. This classic oil painting wall decor is crafted on artist-grade canvas for anyone who wants landscape oil painting with the character of an original.
1905-1906
West Point Museum Collection, United States Military Academy.
Though he continued to study the night sky and to experiment with color, Remington remained unsatisfied with the results of his efforts. It was not until June 1908 that he was able to write in his diary that he had finally discovered “how to do the silver sheen of moonlight.”
As hallway wall art, the piece pairs naturally with other classic wall art and with warm neutrals, timber, and soft natural light.
Expect subtle, hand-made variation rather than factory uniformity. Each landscape canvas is painted with oils, allowed to cure properly, and inspected before it is approved for shipment.
Wondering where landscape oil painting looks best? Try a hallway mantel, a dining room sideboard, or a hallway gallery wall. The landscape subject reads clearly from a distance and rewards close viewing up near.
