The Lady of Shalott - John William Waterhouse - Oil Painting
At a Glance
The Lady of Shalott - John William Waterhouse - Oil Painting suits both traditional and modern interiors. As a portrait oil painting, it works as a standalone focal point or as part of a living room gallery wall, and unlike a print it is genuinely hand painted in oils.
About the Artwork
1888
Oil on canvas
153.04 cm (60.25 in.) x 200.3 cm (78.86 in.)
Tate Britain, England.
Collectors often choose this figurative image when searching for portrait oil painting that feels substantial rather than decorative or disposable.
Materials & Craftsmanship
Oil on canvas remains the reference standard for pre-raphaelite reproductions. Our artists apply pigment by hand, blending the figurative tones directly on the surface for depth that a printed portrait oil painting simply cannot match.
