Choose The Seine at Asnieres as a hand painted oil painting and skip the compromise of printed wall decor. Based on Pierre-Auguste Renoir's original. Our artists rebuild the fine art composition stroke by stroke, producing impressionist canvas wall art with lasting color depth.
also known as The Skiff
1879
Oil on canvas
National Gallery - London, England.
The exact setting for this picture has not been identified, but it probably shows the River Seine at Chatou, to the west of Paris. Renoir painted a number of 'open air' boating scenes on the Seine during the 1870s. In this example, the orange hue of the skiff against the blue of the river exploits the use of complementary colours. Since blue and orange are opposites on the colour scale, they become more intense when they are juxtaposed. The original oil hangs in the National Gallery in London, England.
Collectors often choose this fine art image when searching for fine art oil painting that feels substantial rather than decorative or disposable.
This is a genuine hand painted oil painting, not a canvas print. Our painters match the palette of The Seine at Asnieres by eye and build up the fine art forms in thin layers, which is what gives the finished fine art oil painting its luminosity.
Hang this fine art oil painting above a sofa, console, or bed to give a gallery wall an instant focal point. Its impressionist palette works with both minimalist and period interiors, and the piece also makes a considered gift for housewarmings, weddings, and art lovers.
Order The Seine at Asnieres as a hand painted oil painting on canvas and add lasting impressionist character to your gallery wall. Custom sizes, a digital proof before dispatch, and secure worldwide shipping are included.
