The Somme Valley near Corbie - Sir Arthur Streeton - Oil Painting Wall Decor
About This Piece
The Somme Valley near Corbie by Sir Arthur Streeton is one of those images that never dates. Our studio recreates it as a hand painted oil painting — textured, color-rich, and ready to hang as canvas wall art in a hallway, study, or reception area.
The Story Behind the Painting
1919
Oil on canvas
151 cm (59.45 in.) x 242.7 cm (95.55 in.)
Australian War Memorial, Canberra, Australia.
The second phase of the Australian attack on the south of the Somme on the morning of August 8th, 1918
Every hand painted oil painting in this cityscape series is finished on artist-grade canvas and checked against the original before it leaves the studio.
How It Is Made
From primer to varnish, the work is done manually on artist-grade canvas. The absence of digital printing is deliberate: it keeps the cityscape brushwork visible and gives the vintage oil painting wall decor a museum-like finish.
