The Tears of St Peter - El Greco - Oil Painting suits both traditional and modern interiors. As a fine art oil painting, it works as a standalone focal point or as part of a bedroom gallery wall, and unlike a print it is genuinely hand painted in oils.

Oil on canvas
The 16th century master of religious iconography – the depiction of saints, the Annunciation and Christ on the Cross are recurrent subjects– has maintained his popularity over the centuries into today's more secular era. He was an anomaly in his own time. However, his influence can be seen in the work of 20th-century artists such as Franz Marc, Jackson Pollock and Pablo Picasso (who painted homages to particular paintings by El Greco).
“His rejection of naturalism in favour of elongated figures, clarion colours, squashed spaces and articulated private feeling struck a chord with the avant-gardistes of Paris and Berlin,” observed Alistair Smart in The Telegraph, on the 400th anniversary of El Greco’s death in 2014.
Our artists reproduce this fine art composition in oil on canvas by hand, preserving the tonal range that makes fine art oil painting so sought after for a bedroom.
Materials matter for classical wall decor. That is why this piece is built on artist-grade canvas with lightfast oil colors, applied by hand rather than output from a printer, and sealed for long-term display.
Style it over a fireplace, behind a reading chair, or along a staircase. Wherever it goes, this classical oil painting wall decor adds the layered color that only a hand painted canvas provides.
