The Woman with the Candlestick (Hinabsteigende Frau mit Kerze) - Caspar David Friedrich - Hand Painted Oil Painting
About This Piece
Nothing softens a hallway like a painted surface. The Woman with the Candlestick (Hinabsteigende Frau mit Kerze) by Caspar David Friedrich arrives as a hand painted oil painting on canvas, offering the figurative detail, soft gradients, and tactile finish that portrait oil painting shoppers look for.
Composition & Subject
1825
Oil on canvas
Pommersches Landesmuseum, Greifswald, Germany.
The figurative subject is rebuilt stroke by stroke in oil, giving the finished canvas the depth expected of romantic oil painting wall decor.
How It Is Made
Oil on canvas remains the reference standard for romantic reproductions. Our artists apply pigment by hand, blending the figurative tones directly on the surface for depth that a printed portrait oil painting simply cannot match.
