Winter Landscape - Sunlit Hill with added Groundhog - George Gardner Symons - Canvas Oil Painting
About This Piece
Winter Landscape - Sunlit Hill with added Groundhog by George Gardner Symons is one of those images that never dates. Our studio recreates it as a hand painted oil painting — textured, color-rich, and ready to hang as canvas wall art in a hallway, study, or reception area.
About the Artwork
c. 1925
Oil on canvas
41 x 47 x 1 1/2 in.
With Groundhog Day again bringing Punxsutawney Phil, the world's most famous groundhog, from his winter abode to predict an early spring or six more weeks of cold weather, the Bowers Blog again looks at an artist who painted both winter and spring seasons in the two disparate locales he lived and worked in. Here time repeats once more as we feature George Gardner Symons’ Winter Landscape - Sunlit Hill and Sand Dunes, and find parallels between them and the two potential futures that everyone's favorite marmot can predict.
Every hand painted oil painting in this landscape series is finished on artist-grade canvas and checked against the original before it leaves the studio.
Materials & Craftsmanship
Expect subtle, hand-made variation rather than factory uniformity. Each landscape canvas is painted with oils, allowed to cure properly, and inspected before it is approved for shipment.
