About This Piece
Caprice View of the Molo and the Doge's Palace - Canaletto - Canvas Oil Painting brings gallery-caliber art into everyday spaces. This wildlife oil painting is a 100% hand painted oil painting on canvas, created for buyers who want genuine elegant canvas wall art instead of a mass-produced poster or paper print.
Composition & Subject
circa 1743
Oil on canvas
109.2 cm (42.99 in.) x 130.4 cm (51.34 in.)
Royal Collection Trust (UK) - Buckingham Palace, London, United Kingdom.
The view is from the Bacino, close to the Ponte della Paglia. This painting is one of a series of thirteen overdoors by Canaletto. The scenes are imaginary but they incorporate recognisable buildings and landmarks. Nine of this group are in the Royal Collection.
Every hand painted oil painting in this wildlife series is finished on artist-grade canvas and checked against the original before it leaves the studio.
Materials & Craftsmanship
Each canvas is painted entirely by hand with professional oil paints on artist-grade cotton canvas. No printing, giclée, or digital imaging is used at any stage, so the surface keeps the slight relief and color variation of real brushwork.
