For collectors searching fine art oil painting, Ghost of a Genius is a dependable choice. Painted in layered oils on canvas after Paul Klee, this abstract work reads equally well as classic canvas wall art and as a thoughtful housewarming gift.
1922
Museum of Modern Art: Edinburgh, Scotland.
This work may be a self-portrait. Klee had very large eyes, a domed head and a closely cropped beard. The artist made many puppets for his son, and this figure, with its arms flopping down and tilted head, appears to have been inspired by a puppet. The figure was created by a process of oil transfer, rather like making a carbon copy. The artist used a sharp instrument to draw the outline of the figure on a sheet painted with special oil paint on the underside. The black smudges show where Klee's hand rested on the paper.
The fine art subject is rebuilt stroke by stroke in oil, giving the finished canvas the depth expected of abstract oil painting wall decor.
Trained artists work in stages — underpainting, mid-tones, highlights, and detail — using traditional oils on canvas. Because nothing is printed, every hand painted oil painting has its own subtle texture and depth.
For hallway wall art that does not feel generic, a painted fine art canvas is hard to beat. It is a popular fine art oil painting pick for new homeowners and a durable alternative to seasonal poster art.
In short: Ghost of a Genius - Paul Klee - Hand Painted Oil Painting combines an abstract composition, a 100% hand painted oil painting process, and the flexibility of made-to-order canvas sizes — a dependable choice for fine art oil painting and hallway wall art.
