Green Tree by the Road - Edvard Munch - Oil Painting Wall Decor suits both traditional and modern interiors. As a landscape oil painting, it works as a standalone focal point or as part of a home office gallery wall, and unlike a print it is genuinely hand painted in oils.
1913
When Munch created the tree in The History, he made studies of a giant oak in R?rvik and a big oak at Kalstad. In this picture Munch has painted the oak by the road in R?rvik. A long branch stretching over the road was characteristic of this tree. Some children had hung a swing from this branch, and the wear from the swing can be seen on the big branch in Munch’s History. In the 1940’s the landowner wanted to have the tree listed, but he did not succeed. Firstly, the long branch broke, and later the whole tree was removed when the road was widened.
Collectors often choose this landscape image when searching for landscape oil painting that feels substantial rather than decorative or disposable.
This is a genuine hand painted oil painting, not a canvas print. Our painters match the palette of Green Tree by the Road by eye and build up the landscape forms in thin layers, which is what gives the finished landscape oil painting its luminosity.
Hang this landscape oil painting above a sofa, console, or bed to give a home office an instant focal point. Its expressionist palette works with both minimalist and period interiors, and the piece also makes a considered gift for housewarmings, weddings, and art lovers.
In short: Green Tree by the Road - Edvard Munch - Oil Painting Wall Decor combines an expressionist composition, a 100% hand painted oil painting process, and the flexibility of made-to-order canvas sizes — a dependable choice for landscape oil painting and office wall decor.
