Information about original painting:
The pointillist technique used in this painting consists of small dotted applications of paint, and is sometimes also described as divisionism. Signac was one of a number of artists and theorists who created a scientific method of separating complex tones into pure colours, applied using identical brushstrokes arranged in a decorative mosaic, which are then combined by the eye when seen from the necessary distance.
The spontaneity and empiricism of Impression were here combined with the deliberation and precision of a carefully defined system, which also influenced the construction of such paintings, in which the "chance" Impressionist composition was replaced by the traditional centralised composition framed by "wings".
This landscape was probably composed from drawings and watercolours taken from nature, which was the artist's usual method of work.
Collectors often choose this seascape image when searching for seascape oil painting that feels substantial rather than decorative or disposable.
Each canvas is painted entirely by hand with professional oil paints on artist-grade cotton canvas. No printing, giclée, or digital imaging is used at any stage, so the surface keeps the slight relief and color variation of real brushwork.
This seascape oil painting wall decor is equally at home in a residence, a boutique hotel, or a professional office. Its post-impressionist character makes it a safe, distinctive gift for anyone furnishing a living room.
Order Harbour at Marseilles as a hand painted oil painting on canvas and add lasting post-impressionist character to your living room. Custom sizes, a digital proof before dispatch, and secure worldwide shipping are included.
