Jose Costa y Bonells, called Pepito - Francisco de Goya - Oil Painting Wall Decor suits both traditional and modern interiors. As a fine art oil painting, it works as a standalone focal point or as part of a hallway gallery wall, and unlike a print it is genuinely hand painted in oils.
circa 1810-1814
Oil on canvas
105.1 cm (41.38 in.) x 84.5 cm (33.27 in.)
Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, United States.
The boy's jacket is tailored in imitation of a soldier's uniform and Pepito's hair is cut in a Napoleonic style. This is indicative of having been painted during or shortly after the Spanish War of Independence.
Collectors often choose this fine art image when searching for fine art oil painting that feels substantial rather than decorative or disposable.
Oil on canvas remains the reference standard for classical reproductions. Our artists apply pigment by hand, blending the fine art tones directly on the surface for depth that a printed fine art oil painting simply cannot match.
classical canvas wall art is one of the easiest ways to warm a hallway. Pair this piece with natural linen, dark wood, or brushed brass, and let the hand painted surface do the rest.
