London: The Thames from Somerset House Terrace towards Westminster - Canaletto - Oil Painting
Product Overview
Looking for landscape oil painting with real brushwork? London: The Thames from Somerset House Terrace towards Westminster is reproduced by hand in oils on artist-grade canvas after Canaletto. The result is a piece of heritage oil painting wall decor that anchors an entryway and rewards a closer look.
The Story Behind the Painting
circa 1750-1751
Oil on canvas
107.9 cm (42.48 in.) x 188.5 cm (74.21 in.)
Royal Collection Trust (UK) - Buckingham Palace, London, United Kingdom.
Canaletto spent nine years in London from 1746. This painting is a pendant to a similar work from the terrace of Somerset House but looking towards the City, in the opposite direction.
As entryway wall decor, the piece pairs naturally with other heritage wall art and with warm neutrals, timber, and soft natural light.
