Manuel Osorio Manrique de Zuniga - Francisco de Goya - Hand Painted Oil Painting brings gallery-caliber art into everyday spaces. This fine art oil painting is a 100% hand painted oil painting on canvas, created for buyers who want genuine classical canvas wall art instead of a mass-produced poster or paper print.
1787-1788
Oil on canvas
127 cm (50 in.) x 101.6 cm (40 in.)
Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, United States.
This picture is perhaps the best of the fashionable portraits of children that Goya painted in his thirties. The portrait is of the son of the Count and Countess of Altamira and is outfitted in a marvellous red costume an is playing with a pet magpie. A cage of birds and three cats also make up the picture. Caged birds symbolized the soul in Christian art and were a sign of innocence. The cats are perhaps forerunners of the fearful creatures which were to emerge in Los Caprichos.
Collectors often choose this fine art image when searching for fine art oil painting that feels substantial rather than decorative or disposable.
From primer to varnish, the work is done manually on artist-grade canvas. The absence of digital printing is deliberate: it keeps the fine art brushwork visible and gives the classical oil painting wall decor a museum-like finish.
As entryway wall decor, this canvas brings color and texture without visual noise. It scales well from a small study to a large entryway feature wall, and it is a reliable choice when shopping for fine art oil painting as a gift.
Whether the search term is fine art oil painting, entryway wall decor, or classical oil painting wall decor, this hand painted canvas delivers the same thing: a real painted surface, made to your chosen dimensions.
