Looking for landscape oil painting with real brushwork? Olive Trees at Collioure is reproduced by hand in oils on artist-grade canvas after Henri Matisse. The result is a piece of fauvist oil painting wall decor that anchors a home office and rewards a closer look.
Summer 1906
Oil on canvas
Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, United States.
Painted in Collioure, a scenic town on the Mediterranean coast that drew many painters in the early years of the twentieth century, this is one of the earliest and most important paintings of Matisse’s Fauve period. Inspired by the works of his older contemporaries Paul Signac and Henri-Edmond Cross, who also lived in the south of France at this time, Matisse adopted the vibrant, unnatural colors favored by the Fauves. The artist found great inspiration in the sun-drenched landscape of Collioure, writing to a friend that it was full of “charming sites.” This painting was acquired by the collectors Gertrude and Leo Stein shortly after it was completed.
Our artists reproduce this landscape composition in oil on canvas by hand, preserving the tonal range that makes landscape oil painting so sought after for a home office.
Materials matter for fauvist wall decor. That is why this piece is built on artist-grade canvas with lightfast oil colors, applied by hand rather than output from a printer, and sealed for long-term display.
Style it over a fireplace, behind a reading chair, or along a staircase. Wherever it goes, this fauvist oil painting wall decor adds the layered color that only a hand painted canvas provides.
Whether the search term is landscape oil painting, office wall decor, or fauvist oil painting wall decor, this hand painted canvas delivers the same thing: a real painted surface, made to your chosen dimensions.
