Rome: Ruins of the Forum looking Towards the Capitol - Canaletto - Oil Painting Wall Decor
At a Glance
Rome: Ruins of the Forum looking Towards the Capitol by Canaletto is one of those images that never dates. Our studio recreates it as a hand painted oil painting — textured, color-rich, and ready to hang as canvas wall art in a living room, study, or reception area.
The Story Behind the Painting
1742
Oil on canvas
190 cm (74.8 in.) x 106.2 cm (41.81 in.)
Royal Collection Trust (UK) - Buckingham Palace, London, United Kingdom.
This painting is one of a series of five upright works that depict ancient Rome. It is believed that they were painted as a commission for Joseph Smith, the British Consul in Venice. Smith later sold them to the British monarch, George III.
Our artists reproduce this landscape composition in oil on canvas by hand, preserving the tonal range that makes landscape oil painting so sought after for a living room.
100% Hand Painted on Canvas
Oil on canvas remains the reference standard for traditional reproductions. Our artists apply pigment by hand, blending the landscape tones directly on the surface for depth that a printed landscape oil painting simply cannot match.
