From the first sketch to the final varnish, Sailboats on the Coast is made by hand. Based on Raoul Dufy's original. This fauvist oil painting wall decor is crafted on artist-grade canvas for anyone who wants seascape oil painting with the character of an original.
around 1922-1924
gouache et mine de plomb sur papier
As dining room wall art, the piece pairs naturally with other fauvist wall art and with warm neutrals, timber, and soft natural light.
This is a genuine hand painted oil painting, not a canvas print. Our painters match the palette of Sailboats on the Coast by eye and build up the seascape forms in thin layers, which is what gives the finished seascape oil painting its luminosity.
Hang this seascape oil painting above a sofa, console, or bed to give a dining room an instant focal point. Its fauvist palette works with both minimalist and period interiors, and the piece also makes a considered gift for housewarmings, weddings, and art lovers.
