Sponge Fishing by Winslow Homer

Sponge Fishing - Winslow Homer - Oil Painting for Bedroom

At a Glance

Choose Sponge Fishing as a hand painted oil painting and skip the compromise of printed wall decor. Based on Winslow Homer's original. Our artists rebuild the wildlife composition stroke by stroke, producing timeless canvas wall art with lasting color depth.

The Story Behind the Painting

1885
watercolor
Canajoharie Library and Art Gallery, United States.

As bedroom wall art, the piece pairs naturally with other timeless wall art and with warm neutrals, timber, and soft natural light.

100% Hand Painted on Canvas

This is a genuine hand painted oil painting, not a canvas print. Our painters match the palette of Sponge Fishing by eye and build up the wildlife forms in thin layers, which is what gives the finished wildlife oil painting its luminosity.
