Struck from the List - Paul Klee - Canvas Oil Painting brings gallery-caliber art into everyday spaces. This fine art oil painting is a 100% hand painted oil painting on canvas, created for buyers who want genuine abstract canvas wall art instead of a mass-produced poster or paper print.
1933
Klee was employed in many successful teaching positions throughout his life, but his stay at the Dusseldorf Academy in Nazi Germany was cut short. In 1933 he was singled out by a Nazi newspaper, which called him out as a Galician Jew. The Gestapo searched his house, and he was quickly fired from his job. Klee created Struck from the List to commemorate this terrible occasion. His sadness at being "stuck from the list" is evident in his monochromatic color scheme, depicting an image that is not entirely abstract, as it clearly resembles a sad faces, tears running down the cheeks.
As office wall decor, the piece pairs naturally with other abstract wall art and with warm neutrals, timber, and soft natural light.
We use a 100% hand-painted process: stretched artist-grade canvas, layered oil pigment, and a final protective varnish. There are no inkjet prints or mechanical reproductions in this collection — just a painted fine art artwork made to order.
Build a home office gallery wall around this fine art oil painting, or let it stand alone as a single statement. The hand painted canvas finish keeps the fine art composition looking intentional in both classic and contemporary rooms.
