Choose The Circumcision as a hand painted oil painting and skip the compromise of printed wall decor. Based on Rembrandt van Rijn's original. Our artists rebuild the fine art composition stroke by stroke, producing classical canvas wall art with lasting color depth.

Oil on canvas
56.5 cm (22.24 in.) x 75 cm (29.53 in.)
National Gallery of Art - Washington DC, United States.
Rembrandt, the number of whose Biblical themes exceeds even that of his portraits, has represented the religious rite as taking place in the stable of a Dutch peasant farm rather than in the more usual temple. As in many Rembrandt paintings, detail becomes apparent only upon close study. Here, for example, the animals and witness to the scene at first appear indistinguishable in the shadowed interior.
As hallway wall art, the piece pairs naturally with other classical wall art and with warm neutrals, timber, and soft natural light.
Expect subtle, hand-made variation rather than factory uniformity. Each fine art canvas is painted with oils, allowed to cure properly, and inspected before it is approved for shipment.
Wondering where fine art oil painting looks best? Try a hallway mantel, a dining room sideboard, or a hallway gallery wall. The fine art subject reads clearly from a distance and rewards close viewing up near.
