Nothing softens a living room like a painted surface. The Day After by Edvard Munch arrives as a hand painted oil painting on canvas, offering the fine art detail, soft gradients, and tactile finish that fine art oil painting shoppers look for.
1894-1895
Oil on canvas
115 cm (45.28 in.) x 152 cm (59.84 in.)
Nasjonalmuseet for Kunst, Arkitektur og Design, Oslo, Norway.
Norwegian by birth, Edvard Munch was one of the more gifted painters of our time. As a painter, Munch played a major role in the development of German Expressionism. Throughout his career, Munch's paintings and print work covered dark themes such as sickness, misery and death. His masterpiece, The Scream, remains as an icon of existential torment. This work of art has the same emotions and beauty as the original.
Collectors often choose this fine art image when searching for fine art oil painting that feels substantial rather than decorative or disposable.
This is a genuine hand painted oil painting, not a canvas print. Our painters match the palette of The Day After by eye and build up the fine art forms in thin layers, which is what gives the finished fine art oil painting its luminosity.
Hang this fine art oil painting above a sofa, console, or bed to give a living room an instant focal point. Its expressionist palette works with both minimalist and period interiors, and the piece also makes a considered gift for housewarmings, weddings, and art lovers.
Order The Day After as a hand painted oil painting on canvas and add lasting expressionist character to your living room. Custom sizes, a digital proof before dispatch, and secure worldwide shipping are included.
