The Jack Pine - Tom Thomson - Oil Painting Wall Decor suits both traditional and modern interiors. As a fine art oil painting, it works as a standalone focal point or as part of a living room gallery wall, and unlike a print it is genuinely hand painted in oils.
1916-1917
Oil on canvas
127.9 cm (50.35 in.) x 139.8 cm (55.04 in.)
National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, Canada.
Widely recognized as a masterpiece of Canadian art, The Jack Pine conveys the spirit of the northern Ontario landscape through its simplified composition and lone pine-tree motif. The stylized tree, outlined in crimson and glowing in the evening light, is striking against a background unified by broad horizontal bands. The painting is decorative in appearance, owing to Thomson’s experience as a commercial artist.
Our artists reproduce this fine art composition in oil on canvas by hand, preserving the tonal range that makes fine art oil painting so sought after for a living room.
From primer to varnish, the work is done manually on artist-grade canvas. The absence of digital printing is deliberate: it keeps the fine art brushwork visible and gives the vintage oil painting wall decor a museum-like finish.
As living room wall decor, this canvas brings color and texture without visual noise. It scales well from a small study to a large living room feature wall, and it is a reliable choice when shopping for fine art oil painting as a gift.
Whether the search term is fine art oil painting, living room wall decor, or vintage oil painting wall decor, this hand painted canvas delivers the same thing: a real painted surface, made to your chosen dimensions.
