From the first sketch to the final varnish, The Water Carriers is made by hand. Based on Francisco de Goya's original. This classical oil painting wall decor is crafted on artist-grade canvas for anyone who wants fine art oil painting with the character of an original.
1791-1792
Oil on canvas
262 cm (103.15 in.) x 160 cm (62.99 in.)
Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid, Spain.
One of a series of paintings Goya was commissioned to provide for the Royal Tapestry Factory for the production of tapestries. These were destined for the office of Carlos IV in the palace area of San Lorenzo de El Escorial. Three women have filled their pitchers on the outskirts of the town. This was a traditional symbol of female virtue.
As hallway wall art, the piece pairs naturally with other classical wall art and with warm neutrals, timber, and soft natural light.
Oil on canvas remains the reference standard for classical reproductions. Our artists apply pigment by hand, blending the fine art tones directly on the surface for depth that a printed fine art oil painting simply cannot match.
classical canvas wall art is one of the easiest ways to warm a hallway. Pair this piece with natural linen, dark wood, or brushed brass, and let the hand painted surface do the rest.
Whether the search term is fine art oil painting, hallway wall art, or classical oil painting wall decor, this hand painted canvas delivers the same thing: a real painted surface, made to your chosen dimensions.
