The Art Institute of Chicago, United States.
To create Grainstack, Thaw, Sunset (1890-1891), Claude Monet would turn his attention from one canvas to the next, allowing nature's cycle to direct his work as the light changed during the course of the day. When he concluded the series, he had completed at least 25 paintings.
Here, vivid hues and broken strokes enliven the surface of the canvas in Monet's observation of the effects of the late winter thaw on the stable forms of the stacks under the setting sun.
Our artists reproduce this landscape composition in oil on canvas by hand, preserving the tonal range that makes landscape oil painting so sought after for a home office.
We use a 100% hand-painted process: stretched artist-grade canvas, layered oil pigment, and a final protective varnish. There are no inkjet prints or mechanical reproductions in this collection — just a painted landscape artwork made to order.
Build a home office gallery wall around this landscape oil painting, or let it stand alone as a single statement. The hand painted canvas finish keeps the landscape composition looking intentional in both classic and contemporary rooms.
