The artwork entitled “Poppy Field near Vetheuil” was executed by the renowned Impressionist artist Claude Monet in 1879. This landscape piece is illustrative of the Impressionism art movement, a genre that is characterized by its focus on light and its fleeting effects. Currently, the painting finds its residence at the E.G. Bührle Foundation in Zürich, Switzerland.
The artwork showcases an expansive view of a field teeming with vibrant red poppies under a dynamic, partly cloudy sky. Figures are interspersed throughout the field, giving scale to the blossoms and adding a human element to the natural landscape. In the distance, the small town of Vetheuil emerges, its buildings and features rendered with Monet’s signature loose brushwork. This careful orchestration of color and light creates a sense of immediacy and captures a momentary glimpse of rural French life, as was Monet’s intention.
Our artists reproduce this still life composition in oil on canvas by hand, preserving the tonal range that makes still life oil painting so sought after for a hallway.
Trained artists work in stages — underpainting, mid-tones, highlights, and detail — using traditional oils on canvas. Because nothing is printed, every hand painted oil painting has its own subtle texture and depth.
For hallway wall art that does not feel generic, a painted still life canvas is hard to beat. It is a popular still life oil painting pick for new homeowners and a durable alternative to seasonal poster art.
